Abel's dad was assigned to A Company as the battalion prepared to go to the Philippines. Curtis' dad, Lewis, was an original member of A Company but reassigned to HQ Company at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Steve's dad, Emmett, was a second lieutenant, in HQ Company.
